The Way Of The Forest

"If you are true of heart Isla, the forest will entrust you with fireflies to guide your way on the darkest of nights, and if the forest sees fit to trust you, then I trust you, with all my heart, show me and the forest who you really are, who you truly are, who I believe that you are and lead us through the green twilight"

This was intended to be a back cover concept for Isla's story, my fourth book, the front cover I have had in my mind from the very start of writing this story just over a year ago but the back cover is slightly different.

The margin field for the image is quite tight, as at the top third you generally have the title and the "blurb" of the book and the bottom quarter is lost for the ISBN and barcode, so the main image has to fit in quite a narrow field.

The front image covers the darker edge of the story where the back is about the more sublime element of a forest based folklore fiction. Where Isla becomes all but a guardian of the forest, so I want the rear cover to project this.

Using a largely green palette to give the back a dreamy and lush feel offset against the gentle hue of the sunset.

Maybe I will end up reworking this slightly and try it again, though I think it may come a very close second to another image, but only time will tell.
