Every character is an opportunity to explore a new concept, idea and alternative way of doing everything,
Some come along and do little and never really take,
A few capture people, often there is no reason as to why, they just do but seldom do they go beyond what they already are,
The final percent do something vastly different, they don't necessarily capture people or even take but they unleash an entire world,
Not just changing something but changing everything and carving a new lineage very much all of their own,
In a way I'm fortunate that somehow this keeps happening but by equal virtue I'm also more than willing to keep searching for them.
You might think there is some kind of strategy or rhythmic way for this process to begin, but you would be wrong, it's largely purely luck and perseverance.
My latest characters actually started their lives as a potential entrant for a pin-up competition, I was going to do a dystopian themed character with the final image looking like a wanted or propaganda poster but something changed as an entire storyline started to play out in my mind and I ditched any thoughts about the competition and got to work creating two new characters.
The first - Robyn - a 20 year old partisan and poster-girl for the resistance - She is still a work in progress - I'm not happy with her hair just yet or her eyes but for the most part she is there.
The second - Virika - a 10 year old survivor of conflict and partner for Robyn in this story - Again I'm still refining her, I actually had her ready to introduce a few weeks back but took her back and refined a few parts, her eyes were not quite right and I somehow rigged her thumbs to bend sideways, so I took a step back and re-sculpted her before finalising her design.
I'm still working on outfits and finalised looks for Robyn whereas Virika is there as a character but I need to give her a few more clothing options.
You think I would have learned how this process works by now but I guess "Everday is a schoolday"
