The Promise - Chapter 4

We stay inside for Chapter 4 of The Promise https://www.deviantart.com/peterpixyharrison/gallery/87741793/chapter-4 the main focus is on the background behind how Rowena comes to be in the house, heavy emphasis is given to the story behind how Rowena came to find herself in trouble, her hopes and dreams and the way she sees Scorpio in particular.

Fae shares insights of how other characters see Rowena and in particular how Lenola see's her new friend and just how dangerous Rowena's action can be for Lenola's young mind

This is possibly one of the heaviest chapter of the story, focusing on the darker side of Rowena's entry into the world and the chain of events that lead to her promising Scorpio that she will look after Lenola

Given the tone and subject nature of the chapter I wanted to focus on creating deep and consuming images to suit the narrative, the flashbacks of Scorpio all intentionally lit by firelight, the final scene with a blue and purple hue to heighten the emotion on Fae's face and in her eyes. The first scene, though much brighter is almost intently focused purely on Lenola's exhaustion and Fae's soft, almost admiring look.
